Our company Berk Berry Ltd. is a private Bulgarian company a blueberry plants grower on own field of 2,5 ha. We also sell plants and fruits of cultivated blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. We import American high bush blueberry plants from different EU nurseries.

Berk Berry Ltd. was established in 2001 by a young and ambitious team. Today we have a huge experience in growing and trading with plants and fresh fruit on the local and European market. We were educated from an excellent advisor from The Netherlands for 3 years. Also we have been in an education and practice course in Dutch nurseries.

Now we are a biggest Bulgarian blueberry supplier for the retail market.

We know how important the best quality is and we:

• carefully select ecological regions for growing;

• strictly follow all innovations regarding growing, store and transport of blueberry fruits;

• harvest the blueberries manually to keep high quality of fruits for the buyers;

• are in close cooperation with our suppliers of new plants and we look after our plants as a good farmers;

SHORT DESCRIPTION

Vaccinium corymbosum L. (Highbush blueberry)

Blueberries are perennial flowering plants with indigo-colored berries. Vaccinium corymbosum is a deciduous Shrub growing to 2 m (6ft) by 2 m (6ft).

It is in flower from April to June, and the seeds ripen from June to August. The flowers are hermaphrodite (have both male and female organs) and are pollinated by Bees. The plant is not self-fertile.

Suitable for: light (sandy) and medium (loamy) soils and prefers well-drained soil. Suitable pH: acid soils and can grow in very acid soils.

It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers moist soil.

The fruits ripen in about two months after blooms from May to July. They are deep blue and have a pleasant sour-sweet taste. The size of the fruit is medium from 7mm to 12 mm. Average yield of 8 -12 kg adult bush.

Today in North America, Europe and New Zealand blueberry is one of the widely used types of fruit.

There is great interest in this plant because its fruits are very valuable nutritional and medicinal properties.

There are special requirements for climate and soil.

Most suitable for cultivation are sandy peat soils with acidic (pH 4,3-4,8).

Unsuitable for cultivation are heavy clay soils or soils with alkaline reaction. D
